Whitney High School Athletics

April Steele

My journey in softball has been both fulfilling and diverse. My passion for the game began in high school, which set the stage for a successful college career at Humboldt State University, where I earned accolades as a national champion and All-American.

I started coaching at Whitney High School in the 2005-2006 school year, blending my playing experience with a commitment to developing young athletes. My time coaching allowed me to inspire and guide players, helping them reach their full potential on and off the field. I also enjoyed teaching private lessons, where I worked closely with players to refine their skills and achieve their personal goals.

In 2013, I took a break from coaching to focus on my family. This period allowed me to support my daughters’ athletic pursuits and recharge, all while staying deeply connected to the game I love. Now, I’m thrilled to return to coaching, bringing renewed energy and passion to the role.

This year marks my return to the field, and I’m eager to apply the insights and experiences I’ve gained over the years to help my players excel. My coaching philosophy is rooted in dedication, hard work, and a genuine love for the game. I’m committed to creating a supportive and challenging environment where my athletes can thrive and achieve their best. Watching them grow and succeed is a privilege, and I’m excited for what this season will bring.
