Whitney High’s Conner Gaspar was moved from the Division I South team to the Division II North team and made the best of it. The Wildcats’ setter was selected as the North’s Outstanding Player.

Although the move did help the North, the Division II match was won by the South to a 29-27, 25-21 and 25-14. The Division II North club had players from Bear River, Del Oro, Lincoln and Placer high schools.

Meanwhile, Gaspar’s Whitney teammates Tony Roberts, Justin Otus and Jason Litvinchuk played for the Division I South team, which lost 3-1 to the North. Granite Bay’s Cole Rodgers was named the North’s Outstanding Player.

During Gaspar’s senior season with the Wildcats, he was fifth in total kills (85) and attacks (237), with 23 blocks. Gaspar also served up 111 points and had 20 aces on the year.

Gaspar tied for second in total assists with junior Matt Honberger.

The senior plans to attend Sierra College in the fall and play for the Wolverines.
