AREA SOFTBALL TEAMS PREPARE FOR HOME STRETCH OF REGULAR SEASON
With area baseball teams competing during spring break, the local softball teams get a true chance to regroup and prepare for the final stretch of the regular season.
Here’s a peak of what the local teams have done thus far.
WHITNEY (15-5, 7-2)
The team that currently leads the Sierra Foothill League at spring break has been battle-tested all season.
Whitney opened up the year with a statement, by beating Sheldon – a traditional powerhouse in the Sacramento area. The Wildcats also have two wins over Rocklin, a win over Del Oro and over third-place Folsom.
Leading the Wildcats on offense are sisters Mazie and Makenzie Macfarlane, who are third and fifth, respectively, in the SFL in RBIs. Although their bats have been clutch, the pitching for Whitney has been just as key. Nia Trinidad (8-2) and Sierra Bedrin (5-2) lead the SFL in wins.
The Wildcats face off against a stout Folsom team next.
