Last Wednesday at Willow Hills Reservoir Course in Folsom, both the Wildcats varsity boys and girls teams captured the season’s first SFL meet.

Austin Vasquez was the top boys runner coming in at 15 minutes, 56.2 seconds for the Wildcats in the 5,000-meter run while Del Oro’s Riley Chamberlain won the girls race at 19:02.0.

Following Vasquez in for Whitney in the boys top 10 were third-place Ethan Dodge (16:39.8) and ninth-place Jason Finta (17:10.5). The boys runner-up was Rocklin’s Daniel McElhinney (16:35.0). Jacob Polivka (4th, 16:41.2) and Joseph Passalacqua (5th, 16:51.2) helped the Thunder finished second overall as a team.

Rounding out the boys top 10 were Folsom’s Zachary Graeber (6th, 16:58.4), Granite Bay’s Michael Zagayov (7th, 17:02.3), Del Oro’s Bryan Stafford (8th, 17:10.0) and Granite Bay’s Gavin Vance (10th, 17:14.7).
